Developer Veewo Games has announced a July 17th release date for the early access version of Neon Abyss 2, coming to PC via Steam.
One of the big changes for the sequel will be the multiplayer addition, which is actually getting a playtest, and is available now if you want to sign up for it on the official website. You can also see it in action in a new trailer, showcased during the Galaxies Gaming Showcase.
The new multiplayer playtest gives fans an early opportunity to dive into the cyber-mythological chaos of Neon Abyss 2 with others and share valuable feedback with Veewo to help shape the game’s development. This time, the chaos reaches new heights with four-player online co-op. Squad up with friends, choose your fighter and unleash havoc together.
Players will also meet a brand-new character, Elisa, and get hands-on with the evolving Faith system. In between the over-the-top combat and extensive selection of weapons, which now includes swords, magic and guns, to name a few, players can take a breather with their friends as they shoot some hoops or go fishing in one of the many mini games.
In terms of why the game is coming to early access, the developer says: “As a roguelike game, Neon Abyss 2 features an extensive collection of items and weapons, and it’s also our first time developing a multiplayer game. We hope to receive continuous feedback from our players during the development process to help us optimize and improve the gaming experience. This way, when the game finally transitions to 1.0, we’ll be able to present a balanced and polished game in line with our vision and ambition”.
It’s expected to be in early access into 2026, though there’s no specific date in mind. The full version will be “more comprehensive in terms of content, more refined in terms of gameplay mechanics, and more stable in terms of the online multiplayer experience compared to the Early Access version”, says the team, adding: “We plan to release major content updates every few months, alongside regular patches during our Early Access period”.
