Phasmophobia voice recognition added to console versions

One of the coolest features of the game is now on PlayStation and Xbox.
Phasmophobia

Kinetic Games has announced that the voice recognition from the PC version of Phasmophobia has now come to consoles, including for the PSVR2 version.

Phasmophobia is in early access on both console and PC, so it’s great to see features like this making the jump to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X. The developer explains, saying: “Players can now use their equipment to commune with the dead, bringing console players a terrifying new way to experience the ghost hunt.”

“While Phasmophobia launched on console without voice recognition initially, Kinetic Games has strived to develop the feature for all players to experience and created support for the feature in just over 3 months”, Kinetic Games adds, saying: “Despite the delay of the highly-anticipated feature, the title has already sold an impressive 2 million copies on consoles since its launch in October 2024, bringing total units sold to 22 million.”

With the addition of voice recognition, Phasmophobia console players can now experience the full terror of Phasmophobia using the Spirit Box and Ouija Board to commune with ghosts, and features such as the Monkey Paw for game changing dynamic

Kinetic Games continues to demonstrate its dedication to its players by also recently unveiling their 2025 Roadmap, which includes map reworks, seasonal event news and information on the upcoming Chronicle update.

The roadmap shows how there’s a lot still to come, with new maps and reworks (Bleasdale Farmhouse, Graftom Farmhouse, and a “new small map”). The team will also be supporting the game via seasonal events for Easter, Halloween, and of course the Christmas period. A player character overhaul is also coming.

Earlier this month Kinect Games announced that “The first major update coming to the definitive horror game is Chronicle, will bring changes to the journal and rework the way in which Ghost Hunters can capture evidence. The Photos tab will be replaced with a Media tab featuring three new sections – Photos, Videos and Sound Recordings – with any photographic, audio or visual evidence logged in the corresponding pages.”

Phasmophobia is out now in early access for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PSVR2.
