The 1-4 player co-op Soulslike adventure Serpent’s Gaze has been given an early access release date, and it’s coming this month.
Coming from “key members” of the Satisfactory and Goat Simulator development team, the game is said to have “handcrafted design and relentless bosses of a Soulslike with the power creeping build-creation of roguelikes, all set in an ancient desert that blesses you with secrets with one hand and curses you with the other. ”
Hitting on May 25th, developer Feeble Minds says that “Serpent’s Gaze features handcrafted levels, with no procedural generation. Every run is unique thanks to a “Curse” system that applies stacking difficulty modifiers to your runs, from invading enemies, to minibosses that will hunt you down. Blessings from deities, gifts from your patron and strange relics can be utilised on your pilgrimage. Choose wisely as you explore endless builds and strategies. A new release date trailer offers a look at the intense combat awaiting any groups of intrepid adventurers willing to take it on.”
You play as a scion – given life by the withering tree god Magnolia, with the sole purpose of vanquishing the opposing gods and usurpers who currently rule the lands. Battle through imposing environments inhabited by different factions: the desert and ruins belong to the nomadic Majin, while the city with its cathedrals is inhabited by the proud Attar’Esh. Learn more about the secrets of the desert and the truth behind your patron in a story that subtly unfolds as you play.
Serpent’s Gaze offers the potential to craft all kinds of fun builds where you can layer skills on top of each other to shape the way you approach combat. Create a character that thrives on quick kills thanks to Aspect of the Plague, which gives you temporary stat points when you kill a foe, supplemented with blessings that increase the duration of buffs and upgrades that scale with your stats. Or don the Aspect of the Bold to gain damage for each point of health missing to start building a character that thrives on revenge. Combine this with a massive health pool, slow health restoration and a relic that can sacrifice your own health to stagger enemies and you will be seeking out pain to return as punishment.
There will also be a “Supporter Pack” DLC coming on May 25th that unlocks an exclusive skin for each of the four playable characters.
