Genie Interactive Games has announced its “unsettling psychological horror” game, The Cecil: The Journey Begins, is coming on April 3rd to Steam.
Published by Snail Inc and Wandering Wizard, the teams say that the title is “inspired by the real-life horrors of downtown LA’s notorious Cecil Hotel”, adding: “this spine-chilling experience dares players to check in… but will they check out?”.

In The Cecil: The Journey Begins, players will take on the role of John, waking up in a dark cell realising his wife, Sarah, has gone missing, on a should-be romantic hotel getaway. Instead of rekindling their romance, John must frantically explore the hotel’s decaying and claustrophobic corridors in a desperate attempt to find Sarah, taking on the unknown terrors that lurk in the darkness. Shadows watch, walls whisper. In the Cecil hotel, you’re never alone.
The Cecil: The Journey Begins is infested with nightmares beyond comprehension.
