Sabotage Studios has revealed some information about the next game the studio is working on, after the release of the latest Sea of Stars DLC: Throes of the Watchmaker.
Sabotage Studios CEO and Creative Director Thierry Boulanger explained in our recent exclusive interview that the next title is codenamed “Project Sparrow”.
Boulanger explained that there is no plans for any more Sea of Stars DLC, after working on the title for around seven years. “So for the past eighteen months we’ve had four people working on the next game while we finished Throes of the Watchmaker”, he explained, adding: “All I can tell you now is that it’s known as Project Sparrow, and we’ve been slowly working on it for that eighteen months.”
So our next question was whether it’ll be set in the same shared universe as The Messenger and Sea of Stars, to which he replied: “Absolutely. Yes, absolutely.
If we were ever to make a game that wasn’t in that same universe or wasn’t retro inspired, we wouldn’t call it a Sabotage game even if it was the same team creating it. We’d give another name to the studio.”
While he did say no more DLC for Sea of Stars is coming, he did sort of also say never say never: “As sad as it is to leave it, we’re ready to move on. There are always ideas for Sea of Stars too though, so I don’t know maybe we’ll do one day a week to flesh out new things for it. We’ll see.”
