There’s a lot to learn in Kingdom Come: deliverance 2, and knowing the basics of how armour works is so important. Whether you’re looking to add a new piece to your inventory or simply trying to organise it, there are a fair few things you need to know before you do. Luckily for you, we’ve put together a guide covering the armour basics to help you understand the fundamentals.
The different parts of armour
The main armour set is boiled down to ten main parts, covering four areas of your body: the head, the body, the arms, and the legs. Each piece works in tandem, and the better the armour, the better the stats are for Henry.
Head
Armour parts: Hat, Helmet padding, Hood, Neck guard
The head needs to be protected at all times, and is the most integral part of your armour set. Make sure you have a good helmet as this offers protection from bleeding. If you get a nasty cut, you’ll end up bleeding out without treatment and lose your life. The helmet and neck padding helps to absorb heavy impacts, making it important to not only prevent bleeding, but knockbacks, stamina loss, and health depletion.
Body
Armour parts: Chest plate, Coat, Gambeson, Shirts
Like the head, wearing a strong chest plate will prevent your body from being hacked up. A Gambeson on the other hand will allow you to prevent excessive damage from heavy blows. Of course, your shield, if you have one equipped, will help with this, but having the various layers of armour on your body is so important. The coat and the shirts are more for public appearances. The better you look, the better people will treat you.
Arms
Armour parts: Gloves/Arm armour
Although this might sound obvious, equipping armour if you can will mean better protection from attacks. It is a further piece of armour that means you’re going to be better equipped when it comes to some of the tougher fights.
Legs
Armour parts: Pants, Leg armour, Boots, Spurs
Leg armour follows the similar route as arm armour, while the pants are once again about appearances and looking good. If you’re wanting to get the best out of your horse, you’ll need to wear shoes so that the spurs can then be equipped.
An outfit for every occasion
There are many different scenarios in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 where knowing the armour basics help. You can equip up to three different outfits, and having three that are very different means you can quickly adapt to each occasion. Having one which gives you the best kind of protection in a fight is paramount, and as a suggestion this should be your first outfit. The second one should focus on stealth.
Certain shoes and clothing will be lighter, and might have potential properties that make it more difficult for NPCs to spot you or even notice you’re trying to steal from them. As for a third, this can be something featuring expensive garments for when you’re at an important event like a wedding. People love talking to Lords and wealthy folk, and if you look the part it’ll mean you’ll have better charisma and sway with the local people.
Monitor your stats
As you change and equip new pieces of armour, your stats will either improve or lower. The better the armour, the more protection it offers, but certain items can affect Henry’ stats as well. For the sneaking outfits, you’re going to want to see how they alter Conspicuousness, Noise, and Visibility. If you’re wanting to look dapper or be successful in conversations with higher-ups, having good Speech and Charisma is important. As for adventuring and fighting, Strength, Agility, and Vitality need to be good or else you’ll likely fail quite quickly.
Hopefully with all of this knowledge in the basics of armour will help you in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
