If you are anything like me, it is essential to keep track of your bearings in a game, and for a world this size, it’s imperative I have a fixed Monster Hunter Wilds map position. It can be an absolute godsend to keep track of where you are at all times. In this short guide, we’ll show you how to keep the map in a fixed (non-rotational) position.

Monster Hunter Wilds Map | Find Your Settings

A quick tap of the menu or options button (Xbox and Playstation respectively) will bring up the Items and Equipment screen. From here, you are looking to tab over to the System menu. With customisable tabs, this may be the fourth or fifth option along from the starting position. Within the list, you are looking for the main Options menu.

Once in the Options menu itself, you’ll again be presented with a number of selectable tabs. Luckily, the option that we are looking to amend will be toward the bottom of the first section.

Scroll down to the “Minimap Rotation” before selecting Fixed. This ensures that, regardless of your camera orientation, the minimap is fixed with North facing up. Now your Monster Hunter Wilds map will stay in place as you navigate.

Additional Choices

Another option available in this same screen involves the angle of the minimap itself. For a more classic flat look, select Fixed Overhead, a great option for at-a-glance, no fuss positional information. For those that would prefer a slightly more stylised look to their minimap, Fixed Angled offers a more three-dimensional view. Finally, Align Angle with Camera displays an angled view that follows the camera’s orientation.

So, that’s how to go about getting a fixed Monster Hunter Wilds map position whilst wandering the vast Wilds. For more handy tips and guides for Monster Hunter Wilds, such as endemic life lists, armour and weapon tips plus much more, why not pay a visit to our other extensive guides.
