Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo has a lot of petal containers to find to upgrade your health, and with our handy guide, we’re going to help you get all of them.
While they’re called “petal containers” in this title, you may also know them as “heart containers”, given the homage that Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is paying towards titles like The Legend of Zelda. Collect eight of the petal containers, and you’ll get an extra health, or heart container. There are 48 in total, meaning with the badge that adds +1 health, you can have a maximum of ten health containers.
With our Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo petal container guide, we’ll list off all the health pickups, and tell you how to solve them. Before you know it, you’ll have loads of health points to enjoy the game with. It is worth noting, before we get going, however, that some require abilities you’ll unlock along the way, playing through the story, so in order to solve some of the tricky petal container solutions, we’ll have to explain those, as well: so be warned.
We’ve split these into areas for easier reading (and you can jump to the top of the page using the arrow button. Where they aren’t obvious, we’ve included the co-ordinates, as well. There are 32 in the open world, and the other 16 are in dungeons and larger sections outside of the main open world.

OPEN WORLD
Petal Container 1
As soon as you enter the West district at the start of the game head upwards to this door. You’ll know you’ve hit the right spot as you’ll get a small scene where burgers are mentioned. Head up and into the open door next to the hideout hole.
A rather simple puzzle. You just need to throw your yoyo at the angle of the wall, whereby it’ll pick up the key to the chest. You can then swing your string to reclaim both yoyo and key, and open the chest for your first petal container.
Petal Container 2
In the sewers, you can’t really miss this one. However it’s a difficult fight. You can easily come back later and get this one when you’re stronger, with more hearts and some special moves.
Petal Container 3
Right next to the fast travel location in Old Rattalia Town, there’s a sewer you can jump into.
You need to throw your yoyo and leave it on the pressure plate, then wait and it’ll spawn back on you, changing the bridges to let you cross. In the next room, do the same thing and be quick, and you’ll exit the sewers right next to a petal container.
Petal Container 4
Jump down the manhole on your way to the East side of the main overworld. Rather than quickly exiting to the right, use your walk the dog move to head up to the next screen. Fight off the enemies to gain access to the petal container.
Petal Container 5 (X+5, Y+1)
This one is simply about timing. You need to run and jump to the far right, and throw your yoyo at the key. Then simply continue running and jump to pick it up, to open the chest for another piece of petal container.
Petal Container 6 (X+7, Y-2)
In this room you will need to use your yoyo to throw the key to safety each time, picking it up to move on. You cannot walk through the beam-like devices, or it’ll reset the key location.
Take the key down and throw it to the right. Then jump over and throw it toward the windows, so it’s past the first beam. Walk around and collect your yoyo and key. Drop the key but nudge it towards the edge of the ledge. Don’t worry, it’ll reset if you drop it down the hole. Then walk round, throw your yoyo-string across to collect it, and walk to the chest to open it up.
Petal Container 7 (X+8, Y-1)
In this sewer you’ll see some coins. But throw your yoyo at the top of the room to the right and it’ll pick up a petal container that’s hidden behind the column. Sneaky!
Petal Container 8 (X+3, Y-3)
In the building at the bottom of this image, you’ll find another heart / petal container. Simply set your yoyo off with a throw, and it’ll make the key loop around the corner angles over and over. Go around to the chest side, and you can just swing out to recollect it and claim your prize.
Petal Container 9 (X+5, Y-1)
You will need the wall-jump ability from the excavation site to get the next few. You need to jump into the pit just before a car passes, and the wall jump off the moving car to get to the space below the gap. We fast travelled back to the hideout from here to exit.
Petal Container 10
From around the X+10, Y-1 mark, you will spy a random bomb sitting there. This bomb has a longer fuse, and is how you get the petal container at X+9, Y+2 back in the construction yard. It isn’t easy but you have to just make your way there, and don’t put the bomb down for too long. Take damage if you have to, but get that bomb next to the cracked walls.
Petal Container 11 (X+10, Y-2)
More wall-jumping is required to get to this room, and to solve the puzzle. Jump round and face the sign and wall jump, then wall jump off the barrier to the left.
Inside, with the switch on (Blue gate up), jump and wall jump off the switch to get over to the bomb. Then with the next blue gate up, stand in from of the switch (so it’s on your right), and throw down the bomb. It’ll push you slightly towards, but not in, the hole.
Instantly wall jump off the switch and it’ll propel you across the now open gate, with the bomb. Blow up the wall, and grab the container.
Petal Container 12 (X+7, Y-6)
Remember that random bomb? You’ll need it again. Thankfully this is a simple one, and once you’ve bombed the bricks and got into the room, there’s a free container and some cash in there.
Petal Container 13 (X-8, Y-4)
In Old Rattalia town there’s an area you need to “walk the dog” over water to get access to. There’s a house you can “rob” and fight off the police, but right next to this house is a sewer entry point containing a petal container. It’s a fairly simple one, this container, as you just grab the battery, jump off the ledge to the right, plug it in, and claim your prize.
Petal Container 14 (X-6, Y+1)
Still in Old Rattalia, there’s another house you can enter with a friendly NPC inside. Grab the battery and throw it through the angled opening, which will let it settle on the battery port, allowing you deeper access to the room. Retrieve the battery via the top right angle throw which will temporarily open the top left blue switches. Now you can grab the battery properly from next to it, placing it into the other empty port, getting your prize.
Petal Container 15 (X-10, Y-1)
In the sewers right next to the police station, returning later you can use the walk jump move to gain access to previously inaccessible location. You’ll need the “round the world” special move here to get the shield holding enemies out of the way, but otherwise it’s pretty easy.
Petal Container 16 (X-4, Y+1)
In this house (you’ll need the walk the dog move to get across the water access to it) simply smash the crates either side of the key, then throw your yoyo to get the key safely away from the water. Open the chest for a petal container.
Petal Container 17 (X-3, Y-3)
This is a puzzle that requires wall jumping. However, do not smash any of the crates. If you do, walk off screen and reset them. Wall jump from the point in our image above, then down (you will take damage, but that’s ok), then to the right, then up, then to the right off the crates again. Easy, right? Oh and get used to using walk the dog to get across large amounts of water, that’s going to be a feature if you want 100% of the collectibles.
Petal Container 18 (X+2, Y+0)
Although this part of the sewers looks pretty obvious, note a small gap in the middle top of the screen. Walk the dog upwards and we’re afraid it’s another combat arena here. Simply beat all the enemies to gain access to the petal container.
Petal Container 19 (X+3, Y-12)
We’re getting into late game territory now, in the Fadalins Neighborhood. Jump into the sewer near the line (if you haven’t cleared it yet), and wall ride your way to the container. Yep, it’s another arena combat deal: beat all the enemies for one step closer to full health.
Petal Container 20 (X+1, Y-13)
You’ll need to find three hidden switches and stand on the fourth, here. Using our image above, each cone is placed on a hidden switch that you can smash trash up to reveal.
Petal Container 21 (X+5, Y-13)
A fairly simple puzzle if you’ve gotten this far, really. Make sure you are quick, and utilise the cracked floors to hold the key. Throw your yoyo at the crank and you can use the remaining cracked floors to quickly switch lifts. Grab the key, get your heart container.
Petal Container 22 (X+6, Y-15)
Again, for how late into the game we are; quite a simple one. Walk the dog through the water and use the wall jump ability to jump up, right, down to the key. Returning you can do a single wall jump into a walk the dog to get back.
Petal Container 23 (X+4, Y-9)
In the house full of hooks, you simply have to use them to platform across. You can incorporate a wall ride if it makes it easier, too. Throw the key back across and quickly use your string to traverse the hooks backwards in time to pick up the key and yoyo.
Petal Container 24 (X-10, Y-6)
Trevosos Motor Club is your target here. There are three combat trials in total, each invitation only and you need to find the three bikers across the city to unlock them. Beating the first trial nets you some cash, but also a Petal Container. The second combat trial gets you a badge, and the third is a diamond.
Petal Container 25 (X-8, Y-12)
We won’t lie, this one gave us nightmares. You can find and see it early, but you need the UFO skill to get it. Simply throw the UFO skill out from underneath the barrier and it will send your yoyo all the way round to gather the container, and leave it hovering handily for you to grab from the other side. Yes, we know. You’re welcome.
Petal Container 26 (X-12, Y+5)
We hope you’ve gotten good at water-riding, as you’re going to need it for this one. Remember way back in Old Rattalia Town (X-11, Y+0)? You’ll need to head back there and move around on the water using walk the dog and wall riding, to get to the very bottom left of the map to find this petal container.
Petal Container 27
Starting from X-3, Y-7 you need to position yourself exactly where the above image shows Pipistrello. Do a walk the dog move and you will go across multiple screens landing right onto the petal container.
Petal Container 28 (X+2, Y-8)
Another tricky water-riding one here. Your starting point is pictured above, and you’ll need to ride all along the water, and walls, to get to this petal container. There’s a small fight before your reward, as well.
Petal Container 29 (X+0, Y+4)
This is possibly the hardest one to get in the game, with a starting point of X+9, Y+4 in the Faria Slimer Borough. You need to be very good at the traversal at this point. You are starting near some water, and you need to travel across a huge amount of screens, solving puzzles along the way. The image above shows that starting point, and the heart container you should be able to see way to the left of it.
The trickiest part we found was pictured above. You need to move the life-ring to this point, then quickly aim your yoyo at the lever. Hold until complete, then ride the yoyo down and past the blue blocks which will have receded.
You will need to use the life-rings as platforms, and make your way to the petal container. Phew. But also, you do need to come this way to open up another path to yet another tricky one.
Petal Container 30 (X+0, Y+4)
Good luck with this one. Directly above where you finish getting container 29, you will see a sewer tunnel lid. You will need to use the life rafts to puzzle your way round to the petal container. This one will have you tearing your hair out, but be patient you are so close to getting every single one of them now.
Petal Container 31
Two hidden switches. Two. Hidden right under your nose at the start of the game. In the main central area where you first come out. Here’s the first switch:

Petal Container 32
The last one is the one that made our heads hurt the most. Inside Mojo club, there’s a small swimming pool and next to it, a snorkel enemy who you need to kill to open the orange gate and get the container. All you need to do is stand next to it, and use the around the world attack (special move) to kill it and gain access.
Plaza Roquefort Shopping Mall
Place the first battery in the middle holder, then place the second battery into the first holder. Then take the middle battery back out of the holder and place it into the right hand battery holder, and you’ll open your path up to the petal container. To get back out, replace the right hand battery into the middle holder.
Head into the door on the far left of the mall, then make your way up to the top of the area. You will have to time your yoyo throws to get the keys and open the doors, and at the end of the last one, you’ll be rewarded with a petal container.
The last one in the Plaza requires a bit of back-tracking. Simply head to the right of where our pal is stuck without his car charger, and bring a battery back. Put it in the bottom charger and he will give you a container.
Secret Frying Oil Plant
Deep down in the frying oil plant, you may have missed one at X-3, Y+5. You’ll need later moves to get it, that’s why! Ride your way round and you’ll simply need to defeat any enemies, and hit the switch, which will make a petal container fall from the sky nearby.
Police Department
You can’t miss this, but in case you’ve somehow forgotten where the location is, it’s X+0, Y-2. There’s also a “Ghost Badge” here you likely won’t have, as it requires wall ride, which you don’t have when you first go here. Anyway, clear out the room above (pictured), and then you need to simply wall ride from the spot in the image. Simply hit the switch via the diagonal, and beat the combat room for a key to a chest hosting a heart container. The location is X-1, Y-4 in case you’re struggling.
Slime Corp Skyscraper
Once you find the place to get your ID card from, instead of taking it and leaving, head up a screen to see another petal container.
This is, put simply, another timing based challenge. You’ll just have to jump on the platforms and get across the gaps as quickly as possible, then return the same way. Unlock the chest, get more health.
Slimecorp Excavation Site
To the right of the Western most entry point in the excavation site, you’ll see a seemingly impassable row of enemies. But note just below them there is an angled wall. By this stage you should know you can only move or hurt these enemies from behind, so throw your yoyo at the angle and it’ll take out a row of them, allowing you access to the health container.
Starting at this point, you’ll need to use the new wall-jump ability you have unlocked. Platform across and then quickly wall jump from the crumbling blocks, and you’ll have your prize.
This rotter of an enemy may well give you a headache. But it’s a simpler solution than you might realise. Hit him from the front once to stun him, then get behind and your “round the world” special attack to knock him to the right. Once that’s done you can use his shield to wall-jump across to the petal container.
Poultry FC Stadium
There’s only one petal container in this boss dungeon, and it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking at the map. Wait until you’ve finished the area and walk around the right side of the crowd, and instead of a character, there’s a petal container in one of the sets. An actual free one!
Fadafest Convention
This one you will need to come back to later, as you need the skill you get from the Fadafest Convention area. Once you have it, you can easily use the double jump-type skill (UFO Throw) to get across and claim this heart container/petal container.
Put simply, for this one you’ll need 1000 coins. Instead of rushing ahead, an NPC will say you should check out the indie creators. One is selling a heart container for 1000 coins. Easy peasy.
The final Fadafest Convention petal container is hidden behind these bombs. And you might be wondering how we get a bomb (nearby) to this location. Well the following image shows you that you’ll need the UFO mode. Throw it across the beam and leave it hovering, then go round as Pipistrello and recollect it. Take it to the location, and you’re sorted. In case you’re stuck finding this area, it’s just below X+5, Y-1 on the map inside Fadafest Convention.
Cancelled Subway Station
This is a hidden area located in Faria Slimer Borough at X+2, Y-3. You will need UFO or wall ride to get across the large gap, but you should have that by now. This is a lengthy area with multiple keys needed, battery puzzles, too. Fight your way through and use all the knowledge, skills, and abilities you’ve gained so far to access this additional area. There’s a boss at the end, and your reward is a BP and a Petal container.
Pipistrello Manor
As soon as you get into the old manor, instead of heading to the right (back to that original route at the start of the game), use the walk the dog move to ride left over the water. You can’t go any further this way yet (you will later), but you can grab the easy petal container here.
There is only one other Petal container on your return to where it all began, and it’s not too bad to find. You’ll see it passing through the dark areas but won’t be able to gain access. Fight your way through the level naturally and you’ll find the laser beams. Take one back to the room pictured above, and you can open up a waterway you can “walk the dog” on to get that petal container.
