Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo

After what feels like a lifetime of waiting to those who played the original demo, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo finally has a release date: May 28th. Oh and it’s also now coming to PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch. Hooray!

We’ve been following this one for a long time now, and it’s great to see it finally have a nailed-on release date, and also that it’s coming to consoles as well. A new trailer has been released, which gives you a good look at a game being described by the publisher as a “yo-yo-vania”.

Here’s the key features from the press release:

  • Platforming & Puzzles: Run, leap and solve tricky puzzles as you navigate your way through a variety of environments with the help of your dependable yoyo.
  • Yoyo-centric Combat: Master the art of the yoyo to fight crime bosses, defeat enemies, and reclaim control of the city.
  • Retro-style Art: Immerse yourself in the nostalgic game aesthetic of Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, evoking the charm of a bygone era.
  • Demo Available Now: Try out the console demo now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch ahead of the official May 28th launch.

A demo is available already on PC, but now there’s on on PS5 and Switch as well, so you can try that out. On top of that a retail collector’s edition has been unveiled, and frankly, it’s adorable. The release date for that is being announced “in the coming weeks”.

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo

In this 2D platforming adventure you’ll play as Pippit, an endearing bat on a mission to reclaim the Pipistrello family’s influence following the kidnapping of his dear auntie. Using Pippit’s trusty yoyo as a weapon, you will explore a sprawling urban landscape, learning new tricks and fighting rival crime bosses to restore your family’s once powerful legacy.

Discover and experiment with over 40 equipable badges and 20 passive upgrades that change the way you play. Combining certain badges might make you more powerful in battle or subtly alter the way your yoyo works — it’s up to you to find the right mix.

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is coming to PC, PS4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch on May 28th.
