Escape Simulator 2 coming to Steam in October

A demo is out now, though.

Developer Pine Studio has confirmed the release date for Escape Simulator 2, and fans looking forward to the sequel will have a little longer to wait, still.

The magic date, then, is October 21st: that’s when the co-op puzzler will be released. However, a demo that will let up to 8-players play together is available now on Steam as part of Steam Next Fest.

With over 250,000 wishlists on Steam, Escape Simulator 2 builds on the breakout success of the original game, which brought millions of players together to solve creative, physics-based escape rooms. With Escape Simulator 2, players can enjoy even more detailed environments and deeper interactivity with their surroundings, the brand-new ‘Room Editor 2.0’, and online co-op for up to 8 players across a dozen quirky new escape rooms.

Here’s the key features of Escape Simulator 2, from the press release:

  • Puzzle-Solving Mystery – Dive into the series’ most detailed environments yet and solve 12 brand-new, puzzle-filled escape rooms from a cursed pirate ship to a derelict star ship.
  • Escape Solo or With Friends – Tackle each challenge on your own or use the new lobby room to meet up with friends and take on the ultimate cooperative escape room experience.
  • Enhanced Physics & Interactions – Feel like you’re walking into a real-life escape room, with every part of the environment designed for interactivity and discovery.
  • Room Editor 2.0 – Create and share your dream escape rooms with an upgraded suite of creative tools including a brand-new lighting engine, building constructor, and animation editor.

Pine Studio also reminds us in the press release that the original game (along with its 7 DLC packs that include rooms inspired by titles like Portal, The Talos Principle, Among us, and more) is still available to buy, should you have missed the release back in 2021. It’s sat on a “very positive” Steam rating with just shy of 15,000 reviews.

Escape Simulator 2 is coming to PC via Steam on October 21st.
