Coffee Stain Publishing and developer She Was Such A Good Horse has put out a brand look at gameplay for up and coming roguelite, Into the Unwell.
Developer She Was Such A Good Horse (great name), says that “this new gameplay trailer takes fans through Charcat’s story – one of absurd action, eccentric enemies and the peculiar powerups players can expect to encounter ahead of Into the Unwell’s 2027 full release.”

It looks pretty great, right? Here’s the key features for Into The Unwell:
- Bizarre Battles and Bosses: Face off against a surreal roster of foes, including sentient pizza, rampaging hotdogs, weapon wielding aubergines, and a twisted tofu teppanyaki chef – each bringing unpredictable attack patterns and chaotic encounters.
- Cute and Odd Looking Friends: Play as one of several endearing outcasts – Bonnie, Golden Nugget and Charcat – on the journey into The Unwell, each with their own unique abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Wield a weapon of one’s choosing, with options including a lobotomised lollipop, a battle-worn mop and a half eaten ice cream, that feature their own special attacks.
- Unusual Unlocks and Upgrades: Boost builds with crazy combat modifiers and power-ups, including TNT Kicks that burn enemies with perfectly timed strikes, and Chilli Con Carnage, which adds a spicy follow-up effect to scorched foes. Players can also visit Lenny’s Pharmacy to customise a pillbox filled with experimental upgrades that shape each run.
- 2027 Launch: Last month, She Was Such a Good Horse revealed that Into the Unwell will be skipping its planned Early Access release entirely, and launch in full in 2027, following increased investment from Coffee Stain Publishing
Into the Unwell is a third-person multiplayer whack’n’slash roguelite set in a warped rubber hose world brimming with misfits and gloriously chaotic combat,where players battle through surreal levels alone or as up to a trio of friends.
