ARC System Works has released a character guide trailer for everyone’s favourite webhead, Spider-man, in the upcoming Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
With nearly 6 minutes of footage, we get a deep dive into Spidey’s normal attacks and his unique Web Slam, which looks handy for snatching aerial opponents and bringing them back down to your level. His iconic upside down pose is in the game in the form of another unique move, the Web Hang. I’m not a fighting game expert so feel free to correct me in the comments, but I’m not 100% sure what’s this is used for. It looks like you can start combos from it, and I can only assume there’s a combination of buttons that uses it to initiate a long and passionate kiss with your opponent as rain hammers down from above.
He wouldn’t be Spider-man without his classic Web Shot skill either, which can be used in multiple ways to attack from a distance as either a single shot or a barrage. Spidey Sense was the most interesting skill shown, as it causes Spidey to pause for a second and instantly perform a stylish counter on anyone foolish enough to attack. There were a few variations on show here, including throwing Captain America’s shield back at home so I’m curious to see what other unique ones might be out there.
His ultimate skill, Radioactive Spider, gives his opponent a taste of New York City justice as he attacks while webbing them up, before slamming them down onto a yellow cab. It’s cool, which is the main criteria for ultimate skills in any fighting game.
