When a trailer for a new game starts with “Viewer Discretion Advised”, it usually gets the attention, and that’s what Wilderdark does, a new game from Team JunkFish.
We’ve got some info on the game for you, but let’s get to that trailer first.
Wilderdark is a survival horror exploration game where you find yourself on an unnatural island infected with a mysterious ectoparasitic organism which is corrupting the dinosaurs and plant life. Sent in by the organisation you work for in search of immortality, you are tasked with documenting the island’s ecosystem, collecting samples and unravelling the fate of previously vanished expeditions – including one led by your own parents.
Team Junkfish is previously known for games like Monstrum and Bootleg Steamer, both of which have positive ratings on Steam.
“We’ve been holding onto Wilderdark as a well-kept secret for over three years, and we’re super excited to finally shine a spotlight on it,” said Ellie Gibbs, Senior Marketing Manager at Junkfish. “After years of quietly building it behind-the-scenes, it feels amazing to share something that marks our return to the kind of horror our community has been asking for. The demo is just the beginning…step in next week and see what’s been lurking in the dark.”
In Wilderdark, players find themselves crash-landed on a hostile island with only minimal resources to survive. Every step matters in this tense and atmospheric world, where stealth is key and even the smallest sound can attract the attention of deadly apex predators. The island is teeming with unfamiliar and dangerous lifeforms, including grotesque, parasite-infected dinosaurs. To uncover the truth, players will need to carefully observe their surroundings, document discoveries through photography, and craft essential tools from whatever they can find. It’s a constant balancing act: use resources wisely, stay out of sight, and think one step ahead of the island’s relentless hunters.
Wilderdark is coming to PC via Steam in 2026.
