No Rest for the Wicked getting biggest update so far from Moon Studios

The studio is now fully independent.
No Rest for the Wicked

Moon Studios, the team behind classics like Ori & The Blind Forest, has announced the biggest update to date for No Rest for the Wicked.

One of the biggest headlines is actually not about the game itself, but that Moon Studios is now fully independent, having secured the publishing rights to No Rest for the Wicked. The team says this the studio to “execute our vision without restrictions.”

Back to the game, however, and “The Breach” was announced for No Rest for the Wicked as part of the “Wicked Inside” event (it was the second one). This new update expands the campaign with new areas, armours, factions, enemies, weapons, and also deepens the “game’s lore” and doubles the world size.  This update will be hitting on April 30th.

Here’s some key features from the update:

  • New Story & Areas – Players will continue their journey, exploring Lowland Meadows and Marin Woods, encountering fresh threats like the Harvesters and the Balak Taw.
  • Expanded Combat & Builds – New weapon archetypes (Gauntlets & Wands), new enemies, and an updated loot system for more build variety.
  • Replayability Enhancements – Dynamic world changes with the ‘Alive’ System, where factions and enemies dynamically reshape the game world . The Plague System unleashes powerful new plagued enemies and bosses. Pestilence outbreaks now occur all over Sacra, and the player can cleanse these regions to gain potent new plagued resources.
  • Revamped Systems – Ability to teleport directly to their house, Improved item stacking, new fast travel options, refined enchantments, and major quality-of-life improvements, including improvements to timers and an entirely overhauled storage system.
  • Hardcore Mode – A new option for the most dedicated players.
  • Visual & Performance Upgrades – Enhanced lighting, improved DLSS implementation, and optimizations for smoother gameplay.

But the team isn’t stopping there. Co-op is next on the list, and after The Breach has been released, the team will be adding multiplayer to the game, allowing for four people to share a “persistent realm”. The composer for the Ori Series (Gareth Coker) is also returning to work with Moon Studios, to create new music for No Rest for the Wicked. Oh and on top of that, if you don’t own it yet, it’s going to be 30% off in order to celebrate the studio’s independence.

No Rest for the Wicked is available in early access for PC via Steam, now.
