Listen up, monkey fans! SEGA has revealed that from today, PAC-MAN is playable in Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble as paid character DLC. The news coincides with the 45th anniversary of PAC-MAN, and is pretty cool to say the least. It brings Bandai Namco’s legendary hero into the bizarre world of Super Monkey Ball.
THE RUMBLE BEGINS! Get ready for battles with up to 16 players from around the world! Duke it out locally or online across multiple game modes: Be the first to the finish line in Race, grab the falling bananas in Banana Hunt, team up to take down robots in Robot Smash, be sure not to get stuck holding the bomb when time runs out in Ba-Boom! and zoom through as many goals as you can to outscore the opposing team in Goal Hunt!
Hungry for even more? Grab your favourite bunch and slip into a wonderfully crafted story in an a-peel-ing new Adventure Mode! Journey through 200 all-new stages, featuring support for up to 4 players in local or online play! With over 300 ways to customize your character and their Monkey Ball, along with a new Spin Dash technique, you can bounce, tilt, roll, and now dash past the competition in style as you aim to become Top Banana!
As part of the addition of PAC-MAN, in-game bananas will be turning into iconic pellets and cherries. Golden bananas will be turning into power pellets as well. Along with the DLC, a new 2.20 update has been released for all players. It adds a brand new stage known as Floral Ring to the Robot Smash battle mode. There’s also some additional adjustments and bug fixes.
If you’re now thinking, “damn, I wish I could play it to see if it’s worth getting for PAC-MAN,” a playable demo is available via the Nintendo eShop. It includes the first three worlds of Adventure Mode and access to select items. What’s even better is save data will be transferrable from the demo into the full game if you decide to purchase it.
