Resident Evil Veronica announced, coming in 2027

Claire Redfield is back.

As opening gambits go, SGF couldn’t have gone much bigger as Capcom used the opening slot to announce Resident Evil Veronica, coming in 2027.

Resident Evil Veronica will “draw players into a desperate escape filled with horror and madness through the isolated, zombie-filled Rockfort Island. Developed on Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE, the game will introduce modernised gameplay with a chilling level of realism designed to push survival horror to new heights”, says Capcom.

Check out the reveal trailer:

Capcom hasn’t said too much about the game, but we have this so far: “Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the beloved classic Resident Evil Code: Veronica, was announced for release in 2027 at Summer Game Fest! The next chapter in the iconic Resident Evil survival horror series features the return of fan-favourite heroine Claire Redfield and will release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.”

Other than that, the publisher merely says it will have “more to share in the near future, so stay tuned”. And we will, Capcom. We will.

We recently rated every playable Resident Evil character, and you can let us know what you think of those rankings in the comments, below.

Resident Evil Veronica

Resident Evil Requiem was released this year, and we loved that, giving it a 9.5/10 and saying: “Resident Evil Requiem does wonders with the visuals and sound to bring the horror to new levels. Grace is a fantastic character, and her moments in first-person are sublime. Leon is equally wonderful, with action sequences that rival and possibly surpass what’s come before. The story is somewhat predictable in places, yet there’re still some incredible reveals along the way. The hype is more than justified if you’ve been with the series from day one. However, recent fans will also find it fascinating what direction Capcom has gone in with this highly anticipated sequel.”

Even the Switch 2 edition was great, as Lyle said: “As long as you’re willing to manage a few small compromises, Resident Evil Requiem will be just as haunting on the Switch 2 as anywhere else.”

Resident Evil Veronica is coming to PC, XBOX, and PS5 in 2027.
