Konami has announced that the debut fully-developed title from Unity (yes, the engine people) Survival Kids is out today, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
The publisher explains that “Survival Kids was built from the ground up as a shared adventure with many ways to play multiplayer including full support for the Nintendo Switch 2’s innovative social features.”
Konami adds: “Whether teaming up in local split-screen, linking two additional consoles via GameShare, or chatting across the world using GameChat, the experience is better together. However you choose to play, it’s a light-hearted survival game where communication and teamwork are key with flexible co-op modes that mean players can choose to jump in for a quick session or settle in for a longer adventure.”
In our hands-on preview of Survival Kids I said: “There are sprinklings of the likes of Overcooked in here thanks to the par times and collectibles, though it’s a lot less panic inducing than that title. Whether you’re throwing bombs to open up routes, building bridges, or just doing the grunt work and slowly lugging your base camp to the next location, there’s something for everyone here. I’ll be playing this on launch, anyway, and I’m excited to see what else is hiding later into the level progression, and just how frustrated my friends will get at one another as they play.”
There are also features I didn’t get to try, like the following:
GameShare allows Nintendo Switch 2 owners to invite up to two additional players to join their game via a local wireless connection – using just one copy of Survival Kids. These guest players can be on either Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, making it easy to share the adventure without everyone needing their own copy.
GameChat further enhances multiplayer sessions by enabling players to communicate using the system’s built-in microphone. Those with a Nintendo Switch 2 Camera can even share live video, which appears in the in-game player indicator UI – making teamwork more personal and immersive.
Survival Kids is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th.
