Last week 11 bit studios released the first of a series of “Expedition Logs” for The Alters, and this week, we have part two.
Coupled with this quote: “Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor” – Alexis Carrel, the video shows a deeper look at the relationship between the alters themselves. The tagline says: “Managing different versions of yourself comes with its challenges. How do you keep them all working together without things falling apart?”, adding “We’ll explore the dynamics, decisions, and consequences that shape your journey.”
Check it out, below:
The Alters is an ambitious sci-fi survival game with a unique twist. You play as Jan Dolski, the lone survivor of a crash-landed expedition on a hostile planet. To survive, you must form a new crew for your mobile base.
Using a substance called Rapidium, you create alternative versions of Jan—THE ALTERS—each one shaped by a different crucial decision from the protagonist’s past.
As you navigate through survival and moral dilemmas, you will explore a branching narrative filled with captivating character dynamics and challenging decisions.
At the same time, you’re challenged to reflect on one of life’s fundamental questions – do we shape our destiny or does it shape us? This makes your bid for survival a deeply personal experience.
We’ve been keeping an eye on this one for quite some time, and despite delays, it’s still something we can’t wait to play. We even chatted about it on a recent episode of Loot Level Chat, our podcast. There’s a demo available on PC and console, so if you want to get a feel for what kind of game it is, that’s a great way to do it.
The Alters launches later in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, also in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
