It’s that time of year, where we all get excited to hear the games we’ll be playing in the future. The February 2026 Sony State of Play had something for everyone, with plenty of new announcements, dates and trailers to get stuck into. So let’s stop the waffle and talk about them shall we?

Opening the show was Kena: Scars of Kosmora the sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits that looks jaw droppingly beautiful. If it evolves that series in exciting ways then sign me up, especially since it’s coming some time this year.
Next we had an announcement of some new DLC, Ghost of Yotei: Legends. This entirely free update to last year’s release features four-player co-op where you’ll take on supernatural versions of the Yotei Six, and that’s certainly worth trying if you’ve got the game already.
Maybe less of an exciting prospect for PS5 owners next, with the release date of Death Stranding 2 on PC. It’s apparently going to feature unlocked framerates though, so if you’ve got a powerful machine to play it then that’s pretty cool.

The next game shown in the State of Play was 4:Loop, which is a Roguelike FPS that you can play with three buddies. It features a whole lot of immersive mechanics, and a big Rubik’s Cube boss fight. It’s hard to know if it’ll be the next big multiplayer hit, but I’ll be keeping an eye on it.
Next up was the Capcom section of the show, where we got to see more of Pragmata and Resident Evil: Requiem. I’m incredibly excited for both of these games, and these trailers couldn’t really move the dial higher. There was a big reveal of Racoon City Police Station being featured in Requiem though, which is very cool.
All the Legacy of Kain fans have reason to celebrate now too, as The Legacy of Kain: Defiance is getting a new remaster. I know that a whole lot of people will lap this one up, especially as it features a sneaky peek at the unreleased sequel we never got.

It was more my speed next, as Brigand Abyss is coming to PS5. Its tactical combat and anime nonsense looked right up my street, so I’ll be grabbing that day one for certain.
We got a big showcase of everything Dead or Alive last night too, with a new update coming to Dead or Alive 6. Alongside this it was announced that there’s a whole new Dead or Alive game currently in development, which will likely make fans of fighting games and jiggling rejoice.
Control: Resonant has to be one of the most anticipated games of 2026, and the new gameplay trailer has only cemented that. It showed off walking on skyscrapers with gravity shifting, and a much more open environment than the first game. The sooner we find out a release date for it, the better!

Crimson Moon was next up on the stage, featuring fantasy combat and massive monsters. The vibrant and bloody game is coming out this year, and it looks like a fun way to slash shit up with your buddies.
Game Freak’s latest creation was also featured in the State of Play, giving us another look at Beast of Reincarnation. This action game sure doesn’t look like Pokémon, and we’ll get to find out if that’s a good thing on the 4th of August. Not too long to wait really.
If you want to feel really old, wait until you hear that Rayman is 30 this year. To celebrate we’re getting Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition, which contains five playable versions of the game and a previously unreleased SNES prototype. I’ll be reviewing this so keep an eye out for that, or just buy it right now as it’s just dropped on the PlayStation Store.

Mina the Hollower has been my most anticipated game for about three years, and we now know it’s coming this spring. There’s an exclusive PS5 demo to play now if you can’t wait, and as you’d expect it’s looking as incredible as ever.
Next we found out that Neva is getting DLC, and it’s a prologue chapter that shows how Neva and Alba first met. I loved this gorgeous and emotional game, and if you did too then you can play this new DLC on February 19th.
From the minds behind Tenchu (what great games) comes Yakoh Shinobi Ops. This ninja stealth game looks incredibly stylish, and is played from an isometric perspective. We’ve got a long wait until we play it though, as it’s coming in 2027.

Project Windless was one of the most unexpected games of the State of Play, mainly because you play as a jacked up chicken. The scale of the action in this ridiculous looking game was seriously impressive, with almost Musou levels of enemies on the screen at once. There’s no indication of when Project Windless is coming, but I’m certainly intrigued.
One of my favourite appearances on the State of Play was from Star Wars: Galactic Racer. This new trailer showed off that there will be some story elements in this high speed game, and as a lifetime pod racing fan I can’t wait to jump into the cockpit.
We also had a new trailer for 007 First Light on the stream, and it still looks great. It feels like we’ve seen quite a lot of this new IO Interactive title already, but that doesn’t mean I’m not ridiculously excited to step into the shoes of Bond this May.

Next up in the State of Play was a huge Konami section, full of exciting announcements that I don’t think anybody was expecting. The Metal Gear Solid collection Volume 2 was announced, featuring Metal Gear Solid 4 (escaped from the shackles of the PS3) and Peace Walker. It’s coming on the 27th of August, and will likely be loved by the masses.
Then we got to see Darwin’s Paradox, a game where you play as an Octopus. It looked just as charming and silly as it sounds, and there’s a demo coming today with some Metal Gear Solid ties (Tactical Octopus Action).
Then Konami brought up Castlevania, and my brain exploded a little bit. We are getting the first fully new Castlevania in years, and it’s actually releasing in 2026. Titled Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, this gorgeous game looks like it’s going to keep me up for hours instead of sleeping like a good boy.
Somehow Konami kept the announcements coming, with a new first person Silent Hill game.

Silent Hill: Townfall is coming out this year, and that just seems mad. We once thought Silent Hill was dead, and now we’ve had three games in three years to scare the pants off us.
Finally Konami had a new JRPG to show, with fast paced action and ridiculously beautiful visuals. Rev. Noir may not have a release date or window yet, but this trailer alone has made me very giddy indeed.

To follow Konami we had Saber Interactive, with a new John Wick game. This featured intense and brutal fighting and the man himself Keanu. It looked pretty darn impressive, so hopefully we’ll learn more about it soon.
Next in the State of Play was the big Marathon section we all knew was coming. It featured some snappy looking gunplay, incredibly unique visuals, and the announcement of an upcoming server slam. If you want to play some Marathon early then make sure you’re free between February 26th and March 2nd, then all your sci-fi dreams will come true.
We had a PlayStation Plus update next, revealing some new exciting things. First up Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to Game Catalogue, alongside some classics in the form of Tekken: Dark Resurrection and the original Time: Crisis (complete with gyro controls). It was also announced that the ridiculously charming Big Walk will be launching and PlayStation Plus, and I’m definitely down to do some silly hiking with my mates.
As the show started to reach the end of the runtime, we had to see some more of Saros. This time there was a bit of a deep dive into how the Roguelike elements of the game will work, and mention of various difficulty options and settings that’ll make it the right amount of punishing for you. Saros will clearly be one of the most important PS5 games this year for many, and April 30th will be here before we know it.

Arc System Works and Marvel Tokon were the penultimate trailer hosters, and they revealed a whole shed load of new characters coming to the much hyped fighting game. These four characters are all from the X-Men side of the Marvel universe, with Wolverine, Storm, Magik and Danger all now announced as being on the roster. There are still nine more characters yet to be mentioned too, so we’ll surely be seeing more Fighting Souls before too long.
What better way to end a Sony show than with God of War. There were two massive Kratos announcements in the State of Play, and the first is that the initial Greek trilogy of games is getting a remake. Nothing was shown of this whatsoever, but this is in development and will likely be a must play PS5 title. If you want your God of War fix sooner though then you’re in luck, because you can play God of War: Sons of Sparta right this second. This 2d side scrolling action prequel is all about Kratos’ life before gaining god powers, and looks absolutely banging.
And that was everything shown in last nights State of Play! 60+ minutes packed with gaming goodness, but what did you think of it?
