Blue Prince | How to get more Gems

All the Gems you could ever need!
Blue Prince Gems

Gems are an important currency in Blue Prince that provide you with more options of what rooms you can draft. Certain rooms in Blue Prince will cost Gems to draft. The last thing you want is to draw a room you wish to draft into the house, but not have enough Gems to do so. Therefore keeping an eye on your Gems is very important. Here at Loot Level Chill, we’ve spent hours poring over Blue Prince, and have a comprehensive guide to help you get more Gems, to ensure you have the best luck and the most options whilst playing

SPOILER WARNING

As with most things in Blue Prince, part of the fun is self-discovery, and below this spoiler warning we will be revealing plenty of secrets of the game. We encourage you to try and find out the solutions to puzzles on your own to get the full experience of Blue Prince. Only read on if you do not mind some of those secrets being spoiled.

What are Gems?

Gems are a form of currency you can acquire in Blue Prince and are spent to draft special rooms in you ever-shifting house at Mount Holly. There are also certain situations where you can use Gems for other purposes too, to give yourself more flexibility. The Study for example allows you to use a Gem to redraw your three room options if you don’t like the options in front of you. Therefore having a steady stock of gems will only benefit you each day.

How to get more Gems in Blue Prince

Thankfully there are numerous ways to collect Gems in the game, which we will list here. Using these tricks will see your gem count increase consistently.

Draft certain rooms that provide Gems

Quite a few rooms provide you Gems every time you draft them. Rooms like the Den, Storeroom, and Courtyard will always have a Gem in them for you to pick up. Other rooms that contain items such as the Closet or Walk-In Closet often contain Gems as part of their collection. Also, the Patio room will put a gem in every green room (in existing and future rooms drafted) so is another good source of gems.

Buy Gems

You could also check out the Commissary and see if there are any gems for sale on that day, and stock up.

Trunks

You should also check out any trunks you see and use a Key (if you feel you have one to spare) or a Sledgehammer item to open them. Often you will find extra gems inside them.

Observatory

If you acquire enough Stars in the Observatory you will unlock additional gems for the constellations appearing in the sky, so this can be well worth the 1 Gem investment to get the Observatory in the first place.

Parlor Puzzle

The Parlor Puzzle game also gives you the opportunity to win 2 gems by solving the puzzle in the Parlor. For more help on how to solve the puzzle in this room, check out our Parlor Puzzle guide here.

Treasure Maps

Another item you may come across is a Treasure Map in Blue Prince. If you use this item correctly, you could end up earning a load of Coins, Gems, or both. You need to interact with the Treasure Map, and it will show a room on your map you haven’t drafted yet. Head to that room with a Shovel and dig up the treasure for a big bonus.

Jackhammer Digging

You may have noticed the dig spots throughout some of the green rooms (and other places) throughout the estate. You can dig these using a Shovel. However, if you head to the Workshop and combine a Shovel, a Battery Pack, and a Broken Lever, then you can create a Jackhammer. Using this instead of the Shovel, gives you a better change at digging up rarer items instead, including plenty of gems.

Safes

Throughout the house you can uncover various safes, requiring a code to unlock. Each safe will contain a gem inside. So once you know how to crack these safes, this can be a free gem for each run. To know how to crack each safe, check out our safe guide here.

Permanent Addition

The final way to increase your gems is through a Permanent Addition called the Gemstone Cavern. Once you have unlocked the Gemstone Cavern, you start each day with 2 Gems in your inventory. Which is a nice permanent bonus. To find out how to unlock this Permanent Addition, click on our Gemstone Cavern guide here.

So now you know the many ways you can acquire additional Gems in Blue Prince.
