Just as you’ll need to upgrade your armour and weapons constantly to stay alive in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll also need to keep crafting tougher armour and better weapons. But to do so you need a special currency that can only be earned from certain activities. And we’re here to tell you what that currency is – and how to get it. Read on for our guide to making high level gear in Monster Hunter Wilds.
HOW DO I MAKE HIGH RARITY GEAR?
Once you reach High Rank you’ll be able to make gear at Rarity 5 and above. 5 still uses standard materials dropped from monsters, but anything higher requires some extra steps. Notably, it requires Hunter Certificates, special items that are only rewarded for engaging the toughest monsters and surviving to claim the spoils.
MONSTER HUNTER WILDS HUNTER CERTIFICATES | HOW TO FARM
Specifically, this means hunting Tempered monsters. Each Tempered monster hunt will drop either a Hunter Certificate I or a Hunter Certificate II, with Great Hunts (two monsters at once) dropping more. These certificates will get you as far as Rarity 7 items, but to get the best gear you’ll need Hunter Certificate III. At present, the only place to get these – as with the Rarity 8 Artian materials – is to hunt a Tempered Arkveld, arguably the toughest fight in the game besides Jin Dahaad.
You can find Tempered Arkveld roaming the Windward Plains most of the time, and once you’ve beaten it you can save the fight as a repeatable investigation to help with your farming. Although it’s a tough fight, the rewards are worth it, and you can often get lucky and receive two Hunter Certificate III drops per hunt.
