We encourage you to try and find out the solutions to puzzles on your own to get the full experience of Blue Prince. Only read on if you do not mind some of those secrets being spoiled.

Please bear in mind that some of these spoilers are for later in the game than some of our other guides, and spoil significant puzzles and areas you may not have discovered on your own. You have been warned.

How to unlock the Gemstone Cavern

Note: There are a couple of initial steps that provide clues as to what to do to unlock the Gemstone Cavern. If you do not care what about where these clues are hidden within the game and just simply want to know what to do, you can skip to Step 3.

Step 1: Draft and explore the Mail Room

Firstly you’ll want to draft the Mail Room for your first clue regarding the unlock for the Gemstone Cavern. It all centres around the VAC indicators on the Breaker Box in the Utility Closet. In the Mail Room on the desk, you will pick up a document which looks like this:

Note to help unlock Gemstone Cavern in Blue Prince

This gives you some basic instructions on how to activate the Breaker Box. Notably it tells you how to go from Green colours to Blue, and then in collaboration with Red lights, how you can make Purple lights. It shows finally how to make all lights Purple, which will be important.

It also has a post-it on it saying:

“More detailed instructions will be sent by electronic mail to the address client has provided”

Now we need to find that email.

Step 2: Draft the Office and read the email

Next you’ll want to draft the Office as this is where you can access the relevant email mentioned on the note. Check the email by logging onto the Network using password SWANSONG. For more details on where to find this password and its uses, check out our Security Guide here.

Once online, head to Electronic Mail, and select the second mail down. In it, it will mention a code sequence for the Breaker Box as follows:

[Off] [Blue] [Green] [White] [Red] [Purple]

You’ll next want to read the fourth email in the list. This will reveal that

“The WHITE indicator is only displayed after syncing all indicators to PURPLE.”

Luckily the note in the Mail Room told us how we can do that.

Step 3: Head to the Utility Closet and set the VAC indicators

Now we have everything we need to set up the VAC lights correctly. Draft the Utility Closet and then interact with it. Now complete the following steps:

    1. Make all VAC indicators GREEN by clicking on them once each.
    2. Now press the buttons so that all but one of the buttons (the far right one) becomes BLUE
    3. Make the far right light RED. Then click on the BLUE button next to it. This should turn the RED light PURPLE, and the BLUE light OFF.
    4. Now make the OFF light RED, and click on the BLUE button next to it. This should again turn the RED light PURPLE, and the BLUE light OFF.
    5. Repeat the above step until you have 5 PURPLE lights and one OFF light. Now click the OFF light repeatedly until it turns PURPLE
    6. Now click the fourth light along once to make it WHITE.
    7. Make the sixth light RED, and the fifth light BLUE, and then click the BLUE light to make the RED light PURPLE
    8. Click the fifth light a couple of times to make it RED.
    9. Click the third light three times. This should make the third light GREEN and the second light BLUE.
    10. Click the first light twice to turn it to OFF.

If you have done this correctly you should have the lights in the order in the email from the Office. The wall behind the Breaker Box should lift up, allowing you access to behind it. You can now flip a lever to unlock the Gemstone Cavern.

What does the Gemstone Cavern unlock in Blue Prince?

The Gemstone Cavern unlock opens up a small mining area. Inside is a note revealing some clues as to some secrets buried beneath the mansion. However the key benefit you will unlock is you will now have 2 Gems at the start of every run. This means you will now permanently have more at your disposal, giving you more options to unlock special rarer rooms.
