The Apple Orchard is one of the Permanent Additions you can unlock in Blue Prince. It will provide you with a specific benefit that is permanently unlocked once you have secured it for
the first time. Here at Loot Level Chill, we’ve spent hours poring over Blue Prince, and have a comprehensive guide on all Permanent Additions, what they are, and what you need to do in the game to acquire them. So read on to understand how to unlock the Apple Orchard in Blue Prince.

As with most things in Blue Prince, part of the fun is self-discovery, and below this spoiler warning we will be revealing plenty of secrets of the game. We encourage you to try and find out the solutions to puzzles on your own to get the full experience of Blue Prince. Only read on if you do not mind some of those secrets being spoiled.
Please bear in mind that some of these spoilers are for later in the game than some of our other guides, and spoil significant puzzles and areas you may not have discovered on your own. You have been warned.
How to unlock the Apple Orchard
Step 1: Locate a Magnifying Glass
Whilst you need to do a few things before you actually use it, the Magnifying Glass will be essential to finding out the final clue to helping us unlock the Apple Orchard. As such you may want to wait for a run where you can locate one before trying to unlock the Apple Orchard. You may be able to find a Magnifying Glass for sale in the Commissary.
Step 2: Draft the Darkroom
Red Rooms may seem like rooms to avoid, but we actually need to investigate the Darkroom properly to access the Apple Orchard. The issue we face is the penalty for the Darkroom is not being able to see what rooms we draft. This is because unfortunately once you enter the Darkroom the fuse switch flips and the lights go out. Don’t worry we need this to happen. Open up the doors from the Darkroom and then move onto Step 3.
Step 3: Draft or head to the Utility Closet
Next, you’ll need to head to the Utility Closet, and interact with the Breaker Box. You’ll notice the fuse for the Darkroom is Off. Flip it back to On. Now when you head back to the Darkroom, the lights will stay on.
NOTE: Technically you can skip steps 2 & 3 if you have drafted the Shelter as an Outside Room. If you’re not sure what this is, follow our guide on the West Gate Path to learn how to access Outer Rooms here.
If the Darkroom is one of the first three rooms you enter after drafting the Shelter then the lights will stay on from the start.
Step 4: Investigate the Darkroom for a code
Now that we have light, we can make use of it, in conjunction with our Magnifying Glass to find the code we are looking for. You are looking for a picture with some trees, and a white fence in it. Then use your Magnifying Glass on the tree to the left, to reveal a carving that gives a code. See the image below:
We now have the code 11-28.
Step 5: Head outside and use the code
You may recognise where to use this code, based on the picture, but if not, you will need to head outside the front of the mansion, and then head left through the gate. You will eventually come to your campsite, but keep going and behind it, you will come across a fence and gate similar to that in the picture.
Interact with the padlock on the gate, and then input the code 1128 to open the lock. Doing so will grant you the Apple Orchard Permanent Addition.
What does the Apple Orchard unlock in Blue Prince?
The Apple Orchard gives you an extra 20 Steps at the beginning of every day. This means that instead of starting each day with the standard 50 Steps, you now begin with 70. This gives you plenty more scope to explore the house, and gives you a higher chance of success as you venture closer to the Antechamber.
