Blue Prince | Security Room Guide

This room holds a few secrets, and uncovering them can make your journey much easier.
Blue Prince Security

The Security room is a room in Blue Prince that allows you to interact with one of Terminals inside the mansion. It will likely be your first Terminal, and so understand how to use this and other Terminals will be key. Here at Loot Level Chill, we’ve spent hours poring over Blue Prince, and have a comprehensive guide to help you understand what you can control in the Security room with the Terminal at your fingertips

SPOILER WARNING

As with most things in Blue Prince, part of the fun is self-discovery, and below this spoiler warning we will be revealing plenty of secrets of the game. We encourage you to try and find out the solutions to puzzles on your own to get the full experience of Blue Prince. Only read on if you do not mind some of those secrets being spoiled.

What is the Security Room?

As the name suggests, the Security Room is where you find yourself with access to various security cameras looking out on rooms. It is however a bit of a misdirection, given the nature of the rooms, and your drafting means you are looking at cameras of rooms that may have not been drawn yet. So where is the feed coming from, some weird multiverse dimension? Probably best not to worry about it.

The Terminal

The main point of interest in the Security Room is the Terminal, to the right of the screens. If you interact with it you can do many things:

View Estate Inventory

Here you can view any items you may have missed in the mansion so far. Any items you can pick up but haven’t so far will be listed here, so it’s always good to check to see if in your hubris you’ve missed a Gem or a Key which could prove useful later

Keycard System

The other key function of the Security Terminal is you can manipulate the KeyCard Security System. Some doors in the mansion are just locked, but are locked behind special Keycard doors. The only way to open them is usually to have a Keycard in your inventory. You can however use the Keycard System to turn things to your advantage.

Set Security Level

Within the Keycard System you can set the Security Level, which will alter the number of Keycard doors you will find today in the mansion. The settings are as follows:

  • Low: 1 to 2 Keycard Doors
  • Medium: 3 to 4 Keycard Doors
  • High: 5 to 6 Keycard Doors

Now, if you don’t have a Keycard, the sensible thing to do here would be to turn it to Low. That way you are less likely to find one as you expand your house. If you do have a Keycard in your Inventory, then you will want to set it High, as it will mean more of the doors will be Keycard doors, which you can open automatically, as opposed to potentially needing a regular key. This means you can save your Keys for other locked doors.

Change Offline Mode

Your other option in the Keycard System is to change the Offline Mode. This essentially means what happens to the doors when they don’t have any power. By default, the Offline mode is set to “LOCKED” meaning if the Keycard door loses power it will remain locked. You should always turn this to “UNLOCKED”. Then, if you draft a Utility Closet, you can turn off the power to the Keycard doors (find out more here). This means that ALL Keycard doors become unlocked, even when you don’t have a Keycard, which is incredibly useful. If you do this, don’t forget to ensure the Security Level is set to High, so that you have the maximum number of unlocked doors as a bonus.

Login to Network

The Security Terminal is one of many Terminals you can find in Blue Prince. You can also find Terminals in the OfficeLaboratory, and Shelter. For more information on how to draft the Shelter, check out our West Gate Path guide here. All of them can log in to this central Network and have access to the same functionality.

Blue Prince Terminal Password

Blue Prince Security

In order to Login to the Network you will need the password. And whilst there are a few different clues to this scattered throughout Blue Prince, the easiest, and most obvious is in the Security Room itself. Turn around and head over to the Notice Board, and on it you should see the Staff Notice. Read it, and you will notice at the bottom of it it says TERMINAL PASSWORD, but then afterwards the password is scribbled out.

Now it is possible to just about read it with the naked eye and see what is underneath, but it becomes much easier with a Magnifying Glass. Use it on the Staff Notice, and you will be able to decipher that the Terminal Password is:

SWANSONG

Now head back over to the Terminal and login using the password (remember SWANSONG, all caps). Here you will be presented with a list of options, some more useful than the others:

  • Staff Services
      • Punch in/out – inaccessible
      • Staff Announcements – use this to get helpful messages from the staff who have left the house
      • Request Schedule change – innaccesible
      • Special Orders – can request a specific item to be available in the Commissary in the future. Useful if you are trying to solve a particular puzzle that requires a specific item.
  • Remote Terminal Access – allows you to access another Terminal you have already logged into that day. For more options, you may want to unlock the Blackbridge Grotto Permanent Addition, which you can find out about here.
  • Electronic Mail – Only accessible from the Office terminal until much later in the game.
  • Data Transfer – Unavailable until much later in the game.
  • Glossary – As you discover terms, they will be added here as a reminder and useful resource

So now you know everything you need to know about the Security room and the Terminal within. Note that other Terminals will have other features on them, (although the Network features you get from logging in are all the same) so seek them out and see what benefits you can get.
