Coins are the main standard currency in Blue Prince and they can be used to purchase a variety of things within the estate as you expand. The more coins you have, the more items or supplies you will be able to purchase, giving you more flexibility and bonuses whilst exploring and expanding the mansion. Therefore keeping your pockets full of Coins is advised. Here at Loot Level Chill, we’ve spent hours poring over Blue Prince, and have a comprehensive guide to help you get more Coins, so you can spend wherever you please.
SPOILER WARNING
As with most things in Blue Prince, part of the fun is self-discovery, and below this spoiler warning we will be revealing plenty of secrets of the game. We encourage you to try and find out the solutions to puzzles on your own to get the full experience of Blue Prince. Only read on if you do not mind some of those secrets being spoiled.
What are Coins?
Coins are your main currency in Blue Prince, and as you would expect, they can be spent in the various Shop rooms (Gold rooms) in the house to exchange for various items and food. Later in the game they can also purchase other useful items and upgrades too.
How to get more Coins in Blue Prince
Thankfully there are a few ways to earn more Coins in the game, which we will list here. Using these tricks, you shouldn’t find yourself short of a Key or two.
Certain rooms give you Keys
Some rooms that you draft will always have free Coins inside them. Rooms such as the Pantry or Storeroom will always contain a few coins, and so are worth drafting to keep you stocked up. The Rumpus Room is a rarer room but will also always have 8 Coins for you. As you get even further into the game, rooms such as the Vault have a whopping 40 Coins in, at the cost of 3 Gems to draft.
Also, rooms containing items such as Closet, Walk-In Closet, and Attic are also likely to contain a few coins so don’t overlook these as options if your Coin count is low..
Metal Detector
If you can acquire a Metal Detector, they increase the chances of finding Coins (or a Key) in rooms you draft. What’s more, they also beep to highlight that some unclaimed keys or coins are still around, helping you find them hidden on the floor (or anywhere else they may be hiding).
Dig Spots
Using a Shovel on Dig Spots will likely reveal a Coin or two on rare occasions, so don’t be afraid to invest in a Shovel to do so. Or sometimes if you’re lucky, there will be one in a Green Room already for free.
Coin Purse
The Coin Purse is an item in the game that will add additional Coins to your total when you pick up Coins. Great to use in tandem with some other of these options to really bolster those coffers.
Treasure Maps
Another item you may come across is a Treasure Map in Blue Prince. If you use this item correctly, you could end up earning a load of Coins, Gems, or both. You need to interact with the Treasure Map, and it will show a room on your map you haven’t drafted yet. Head to that room with a Shovel and dig up the treasure for a big bonus.
The Office
Another rare room to keep an eye out for is the Office. In the Office is a Terminal. If you interact with it, you can opt to Spread Coins throughout the estate (in currently drafted rooms). This means groups of coins will appear – normally totalling around 25 coins – which is great for bolstering your bank balance. If you have a Conference Room already on the estate, they will all appear there, in a single handy place.
Outer Rooms
If you unlock the West Gate Path Permanent Addition – and to find out how, click on our guide here – you will have access to additional Outer Rooms. Here you could draft the Tomb which rewards you with 5 Coins every time you draft a dead-end room in your estate. There is also the Shrine which if you donate 4 Coins to will give you the Blessing of the High Roller which will reward you with Ivory Dice every time you draft a Shop (gold) room. What’s more though, every time you use one of these Ivory Dice, you gain 5 Coins, so well worth the 4 Coin investment. And this blessing will last for multiple days.
Allowance
You will find Allowance tokens in harder-to-reach locations, or for solving certain puzzles. Each Allowance Token gives you an additional 2 Coins to begin the day with, and they are permanent and cumulative. So the more you find in the game, the more Coins you have at the beginning of the day, on top of what you will also find. So keep on the lookout for Allowance Tokens.
So now you know how to get more Coins in Blue Prince.
