For some Hunters, fashion is everything – and Gemma the Blacksmith understands this, That’s why she allows you to make Layered Armor as soon as you reach High Rank. This is done by finishing the main story and rolling the credits. Now when you return to the game you’ll be able to access the Layered Armor options in your tent.

Those who purchased the Deluxe Edition can visit the Support Palico in the Windward Plains Base Camp, where all DLC Layered Armor for you and your Palico will go when you unlock it. Layered Armor you get from Gemma is much simpler to unlock.

HOW DO I CRAFT LAYERED ARMOUR?

Every piece of High Rank armour you craft at Gemma’s forge has a Layered counterpart that you can access and change the colours of by visiting your tent and choosing the Change Equipment Appearance option. There’s no need to grind additional items, rare coins, certificates, or any other rare materials – it’s now easier than ever before. Please note that Low Rank gear cannot be used as Layered Armor.
