Nintendo has released a free update for Mario Tennis Fever on Nintendo Switch 2, and it adds new content and an extra way to play with friends who don’t own the game themselves.
Game Share is seemingly becoming more and more frequent, with titles like Star Fox supporting it at release, but Mario Tennis Fever didn’t originally have it. This update adds the feature, meaning if you own the game but your friends don’t, you can start a Game Chat session and play the game with friends who don’t own it, without any extra costs.
Galaxy Court is “inspired by the Mario Galaxy game” (and probably the movie as well which, by the way, I’ve not yet seen: shout in the comments if you rate it), but there’s more Galaxy-related goodies added too. First though, let’s check out the trailer, below.
The Black Hole Racket is part of the free update, and you can guess what that does. It “creates black holes” that pull in players. New Luma colour options have also been added. There’s even the Cosmic Comet mode added, which gives another way to play, offering changes to the matches. Daredevil comets, and more, it’s all here in this free update. The part where it adds shadows looks mad, and could really swing the match one way or another.
In our review of Mario Tennis Fever, we said: “Mario Tennis Fever offers a fantastic tennis experience with plenty of ways to play. It does feel slightly dialled into the ever more increasingly online world we live in, but it looks seriously good while doing it. Whether in docked mode or on the big screen, this is a gorgeous experience. Oh, but I’d perhaps hop into the menus and turn off the commentary from the Wonder Flower, just to save your sanity. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s a seriously good time, and for most people, that’ll be enough.”
Mario Tennis Fever is out now for Nintendo Switch 2.
