Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 | How to get a horse

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Horse guide

There’s a lot of ground to cover in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and doing so on your feet takes a lot of time. Thankfully, you’ll be able to get your own horse relatively early on. There’re illegal ways to acquire a horse, such as stealing one from a stable, but if a guard catches you, there’s a high chance you’ll end up getting thrown in prison or be forced to pay a hefty fine. With this guide, we’ll talk you through exactly how you get your first horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Start ‘The Jaunt’ questline

As you play through the story, you’ll end up unlocking a quest called ‘The Jaunt.’ It’s where you meet Lord Semine for the first time, and it’s also where you’re reacquainted with a certain special horse. In order to unlock the horse, play through the questline until you reach the ‘Meet Gnarly and Lord Semine in the courtyard.’ Seine will talk to you about horses, saying you’ll need one if you want to travel with them. This leads to the chance to get your own horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Visit the Groom

Just beyond where Lord Jan Semine and Gnarly are, you’ll be able to visit the stables where you’ll find a range of different horses for sale. Talk to Groom Ballatay and he’ll explain about a traveller selling him a grey horse that isn’t interested in being sold to anyone. If you’re able to intimate him, he’ll tell you that you can have the grey horse as long as they come to you if you whistle. Whistle using Triangle/Y, and the horse will come running to you.

More horses do become available as you play, but this first one is going to be vital in the opening hours due to all the travelling you have to do. Once you are reunited with your horse, you’ll be ready to continue the questline and set out with Lord Semine and Gnarly.
