Strategy

Weak Point: Mouth, Chest
Breakables: Cranial Iceplate, Foreleg x2 Large Iceplate (Exposed), Hind Leg x2, Abdominal Iceplate, Tail Iceplate
Tail Sever: Yes
Helpful Hints:
Jin Dahaad is a huge monster, the biggest you will face in the game in fact, and is as foreboding as its size suggests. At the beginning of the fight, the ridges on its body will cool the surrounding area – making Hot Drinks or the equivalent a must – but you also need to be wary of Iceblight too. The ridges are your priority, and the easiest way to consistently destroy them seems to be with the Dual Blades and wounding. Striking a wounded area with a Focus Strike with the Dual Blades will see the hunter automatically fly down the monster’s back hitting everything in its path. It’s a lot of damage on a long monster like Jin Dahaad, but also does damage to the ridges consistently. In terms of attacks, you’ll want to dodge its ice-breath laser-type attack. It will do this from the ground and also climb up high to do it from above. If it is up high, after a while some rocks from above become weakened and can be yanked down to deal extra damage if Jin Dahaad is on them at the time. The biggest challenge you will face is after Jin Dahaad has moved areas a couple of times. Once they have, they will move into an area where there are icy stalactites above you that can be pulled down. But don’t do this until a certain point. As the Jin Dahaad swirls itself into a coil and encases itself in ice, that is when you must be quick. Sheathe your weapon if it’s out and look for an ice stalactite you can pull down, and do so. Quickly run over to it and get behind it, as the Jin Dahaad will soon unleash a powerful area-of-effect ice attack that will instantly kill you if you aren’t behind something. So position yourself behind this new icy barrier compared to Jin Dahaad and wait for the attack to finish. It will destroy your barrier, so the next time the attack happens, you will need to repeat the process.

Weaknesses

Weapons: Head, Neck, and Iceplates with Slash and Blunt weapons deal the most damage.
Effects: Iceblight is nullified, and all other effects are largely inneffective.
Elements: Fire-element weapons are the most effective.
Status Effects: All status effects are possible, but Exhaust and Blastlbight are the only ones worth considering.
Items: Flash Pods and Shock Traps will work. Pitfall Traps are too small for Jin Dahaad
