During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that new Amiibo from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be releasing June 5 alongside the Nintendo Switch 2. While the bulk of announcements were all about the wealth of games arriving on the new console, and various hardware specs, the Amiibo news is something extra for fans to get excited about. At launch, four characters will be available. Tulin, Yunobo, Riju, and Sidon all unlock a fabric for Link’s paraglider, along with weapons and materials to use in-game.

One of the big bits of news from the Nintendo Direct was the upgraded versions of both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The two versions are launching on June 5 with the console (and the new Zelda Amiibo) with enhanced resolution, increased framerate, HDR support, and quicker load times. Not only that, but a cool new feature coming to the games is Zelda Notes, a smart app that aims to help players navigate through the vast worlds.
Zelda Notes will help players find shrines and Koroks, listen to untold stories from various in-game characters, and share Autobuild blueprints with other players via a QR code. Once you have the code, it can then be used in your own adventure. Access to Zelda Notes comes with purchase of an upgrade pack or with a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
What’s cool is how these upgrades offer more than just visual improvements. A whole app to use during your adventure will make things much easier. New Zelda Amiibo, added features to two of the best games on the original Switch, and a brand-new console all on the same day. How exciting!
