Monster Hunter Wilds Rey Dau | How to beat
General Info
Name: Rey Dau
Monster Type: Flying Wyvern
Known Habitats: Plains
Characteristics:
The flying wyvern that reigns supreme over the Windward Plains’ ecosystem. It has adapted to the Sandtide – when it most frequently appears – and is able to store, amplify, and discharge the storm’s heavy lightning to lethal effect. Rey Dau is highly territorial and will attack any and all intruders on sight. The fulgurite against its carapace emits a sound that puts every monster in the region on guard.
Special Attack: Weak Roar, Thunderblight
Strategy
Weak Point: Head
Breakables: Head, Wings x2
Tail Sever: Yes
Helpful Hints:
Firstly, thunder resistance will be your friend here, or alternatively stun resistance will negate the real effect if Thunderblight does land. With that sorted, Rey Dau being the apex predator of the Plains makes it a formidable opponent. It is quick, both in the air and on the ground and can hit hard. Watch out when it flies up in the air, as it will likely attack by flying past and dragging a thunderous wing across the ground, or simply slam itself into you – so keep moving. When on the ground it will also fire lightning from its mouth a few times in a row. If you can get to the side of its head as it does this, you will have a brief window to wound attack the head as it recovers. Water-based weapons are your friend in this fight for extra damage.
Weaknesses
Weapons: The Head is the weakest area with Blunt or Slash weapons
Effects: Low potential, slightly higher chance of Iceblight on the head.
Elements: Water or Ice-element weapons are the most effective.
Status Effects: All status effects are possible, although Paralysis and Stun are quite ineffective.
Items: Flash Pods and Pitfall traps will work. Do not try Shock traps or Sonic bombs.
