As far as I’m concerned, the end of Summer Games Fest was the best bit – and not just because it was time to go to bed. It’s because Final Fantasy VII Revelation was announced, and revealed to be releasing in Spring of next year simultaneously across all consoles and PC.
I am beyond excited to conclude the story of Cloud and friends, especially after recently playing the fantastic Switch 2 ports of the first two games. Next year we’ll finally get to see how the end of this delightful remake trilogy plays out, and what changes will be made to the classic story. There’s so much speculation to be made, but here’s what we know so far.
The Final Fantasy VII Revelation trailer showed off how you’ll explore this iconic world, this time in the Highwind airship. You can use the airship to go anywhere you want, and when you’re ready to check out what’s going down on the ground you can seamlessly parachute out. This looked really impressive in action, and is sure to make exploration even more exciting.
A new customisation system called FITS was also shown, which is sure to add more depth to this already ridiculously compelling series. More exciting than all of this though was seeing Vincent Valentine in action. The star of Dirge of Cerberus is going to play a huge role in the coming game, and his gunslinging combat and hideous transformation looked incredible.

“Cloud Strife and his loyal companions face a world that teeters on the brink of annihilation. Grieving a beloved ally, and with their nemesis Sephiroth nearing godhood, the party takes to the skies aboard the airship Highwind in a race against time to stop Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic, and the total obliteration of the planet. FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION delivers the unforgettable, breathtaking finale to one of the most ambitious projects in video game history and the culmination of 30 years of FINAL FANTASY VII storytelling.”
Now we finally know what to call the third entry of the Remake trilogy, and by the end of next year we’ll hopefully be talking about it with Game of the Year in mind. There’s not a whole lot that could top Final Fantasy VII Revelation on my most anticipated list right now, and I’m glad we don’t have to wait too long to finish this story.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is coming to Switch 2, XBOX, PS5, and PC in Spring 2027.
