Capcom has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Street Fighter 6 (Years1-2 Fighters Edition) will include cross-play with other consoles. It’ll also have two new gyro-controlled modes.
On the official Japanese page for the game, Capcom says: “Supports cross-platform play! Join online battles (60fps compatible) with many fighters waiting for you!”.
It’s one of the first (if not the first) game we’ve had this confirmation of, though there’s a few caveats:
- Registration for a CAPCOM ID and platform linking are required.
- An online connection is required to play this content.
- A paid subscription to Nintendo Switch Online is required to enjoy online battles.
These are basically the same requirements for the other versions of the game, aside Steam, where you don’t need a subscription to play online. A Capcom ID is how the game’s friends system works, so you can send each other friend codes and pair up that way.
We also know that Street Fighter 6 on Nintendo Switch 2 will support the Joy Con 2 controllers, but the previous Joy-Con controllers are also supported. There will be a new “party-style mode” that’s exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, as well. In fact, there’s two game modes.Nintendo Switch 2 software and peripheral prices announced
Gyro Battle
- Use the gyro function to perform techniques!
- Enjoy a one-on-one battle with a different feel than normal!
Calorie Contest
- Swing your Joy-Con 2/Joy-Con to the limit to burn calories and seize victory!
There will also be new amiibo (Luke, Jamie, Kimberly), and there will be amiibo functionality within the game. Ken and Ryu, along with multiple amiibo cards will also work within Street Fighter 6.
- Target Characters: Once you’ve written down your outfit, color, and button settings, you can touch them on the character select screen and they’ll be reflected instantly, allowing you to move on to battle quickly.
- View CFN Profile: By scanning the amiibo with the “Fighter Settings” written on it, you can follow or send a friend request from the CFN profile that is displayed.
All in all this seems to be a fairly good port of the game, with new features and functionality.
Street Fighter 6 for Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5th. Read more Nintendo Switch 2 coverage here.
