Revenge of the Savage Planet offers tons of upgrades for the discerning explorer, but you’ll need to put in the hours and rise in the ranks if you want to unlock the best upgrades to keep you alive.
The multi-part Upgrade-O-Rama quest rewards you with a promotion each time, which unlocks new upgrades for your gear and boosts your employee level with ALTA Interglobal. There are four or five mini challenges within each stage for a total of 18, some of which are pretty self-explanatory. A few require a little brainpower, though, so we’ve listed them all below along with the solutions we found to complete them. This guide should help you complete the Revenge of the Savage Planet, Grinding for the Corner Office questline.
Part 1: Casual Consultant
AERIAL DISARRAY
Stagger 3 Slitherflies with your Water Gun
This is fairly simple. Locate a Slitherfly nest (huge honeycombs with bulbous orange sacks) and spray each fly for a few seconds to stun it.
HIGH DIVE HERO
Dive bomb from 25m high
This can be completed in the central lake area on Stellaris Prime. Climb up to one of the rocky towers and jump down into the open water, pressing Y mid-drop to dive (or cannonball, actually) into the water.
BAIT & BETRAY
Throw bait onto 3 creatures
Simply load up on Grob and pelt an animal with it so the other animals attack it. You must get the other animals to damage the one you baited, so use it on something that will at least defend itself. We did it on three Raccoccos.
FRICTIONLESS FLOW
Slide for 15m
Pressing the sprint button while sprinting will knee-slide. Do this through a large puddle of green goo and you’ll keep going for well past the requisite 15 metres.
Part 2: Part-Time Explorer
SHOCK AND AWE
Shock 5 creatures at once
This one can be tricky. Ideally wait until you reach Xephyr, and then find a group of Puffer Foxes and Scorpion Puffers. Throw some Grob on the Scorpion and wait for the other animals gather around it, then shoot it so it electrocutes all of them.
RETURN TO SENDER
Return their own projectile to 3 different creature species
Once you upgrade your glove you can slap projectiles back at enemies. There are a few creatures that this works on, but the Slitherflies, Boneflies, and Icicons or Lavacons are easy as they can be killed easily by their own projectiles.
SINKING KICK
Kick 5 creatures into the quicksand
Another easy one. There are several huge lakes of quicksand on Xephyr, and you can kick any combination of five creatures in to complete the challenge.
NINJA EXECUTIONER
Defeat 3 Vaperons by kicking them
Vaperons are annoying teleporting praying mantis creatures that are easily despatched with the pacifier pistol. However, this challenge wants you to kick them. They teleport so could be tricky to land a hit on, but it shouldn’t take too long. Each will take around three hits to kill.
CRACK SOME EGGS
Use the whip to break the shells of 3 Fecal Beetles
Fecal Beetles are the smelly beetles with shells made of bright blue poop. Simply find three and hit them in the rear with the Proton Whip to break the shells.
Part 3: Vice President of Exploration
ELEMENTAL REVERSAL
Defeat Ice with Fire, defeat Fire with Ice
You’ll need to get to Zenithian Rift to complete this challenge. Up in the skies above the planet are floating glaciers you can jump, swing and grind between. There are also little blue and red sacks everywhere that disgorge Icicons and Lavacons, which launch ice and fire projectiles at you, respectively. Deflect fire projectiles at an Icicon, and vice versa, to complete this challenge.
ICE RICOCHET
Defeat 3 frozen enemies with a Bounce Shot
For this you’ll need to upgrade your Pacifier Pistol to launch bounce shots, which you charge by holding down the trigger until the reticle turns pink. Now find one of those large frozen flowers that flash-freeze anything close – the best place is right near one of the teleporters on Stellaris Prime. Bait it with Grob to attract Raccoccos, then shoot it to freeze them. Now charge your bounce shot and take aim. Once shot will do the trick.
GLIDE MASTERY
Glide for 100 metres
This takes a while as you’ll need to upgrade the EKO Drone to act as a glider. Once you have, you can achieve this by gliding as much as possible. You don’t have to do the whole 100 metres in one go, though.
GRAVITY’S WRATH
Stomp 3 creatures from 20 metres
This is very easy once you have the Triple Jump or Drone Tether unlocked, as you can reach this height from ground quickly and then ground stomp the enemy beneath you. You’ll need to kill the creature, so pick something squishy like a Puffer.
Part 4: Senior Corporate Raider
JELLY BURST BONANZA
Blow up 3 Mito Slimes at the same time
It may be possible to do this using Lava Goo, but we used the water hose. Hitting Mito Slimes with water causes them to swell up and pop, so find one or two, shoot them a few times to spawn more, and then douse them in water until they burst.
UP, UP AND BOOM
Cover 3 Babutts in Green Goo at the same time
The hardest part of this challenge is finding Green Goo and then finding the Babutts while you have some. These creatures are also rare, and can be found on one of the high plateaus above the plains of Quasadron IX. Load up on Green Goo, get them all together (they move in threes anyway), and spray away.
THE LOUD AND SLOWED
Capture 5 Tatushkeys that are covered in Ferro Goo
Again, you’ll need to load up on Ferro Goo before finding the Tatushkeys, but they spawn regularly right by your original crash site on Quasadron IX. They’re fast even when covered in Goo, so you need quick reflexes to spray them and then lasso them before they run away screaming hysterically.
RAPID FIRE EXECUTIONER
Kill three in enemies in 20 seconds with the following: Acid Bomb, Bombegranate, Charged shot
This is easier than it sound provided you’ve bought the upgrades that let you carry Blight Bombs and Bombegranates. If you can carry them, head to Quasadron IX where there are ready supplies of both everywhere, find a cluster of Striped Puffers, and go nuts. Throw the Bomgranate first as it has a three-second delay, then switch to the acid bomb, and finally charge a shot on one of the others. Be careful not to kill everything with the Bombegranate though.
SKEET SHOOT
Defeat 3 bouncing creatures
To do this easily you need to have upgraded your Item section far enough to carry bounce bombs, which you collect from green globs of tree-snot all around any of the worlds. It’s also better if you upgrade the Pacifier far enough to kill a Raccocco in one shot. Now travel to the middle of the jungle on Stellaris Prime and throw bounce bombs at or near Raccoccos and quickly target and shoot them while they’re airborne. You could do this anywhere, with any Puffer, but Raccoccos are just more satisfying to splatter.
And there you have it, now you have the chance to unlock all the abilities, and have completed one of the long running quests in the game.
